Kidnapped Touchscreen

Kidnapped Touchscreen. I have an HP ENVY. After a recent Windows update, my touchscreen no longer worked. In fact, the software and drivers were completely removed from my computer. No sign of it in the device manager including hidden devices. It was working perfectly fine before the update. The update was early January 2021.
Then I was told to download all the drivers again.

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-envy-17-ae000-laptop-pc/15551157

Click on the green box/button to β€œDetect My Drivers”. Update/install accordingly.
I followed the link and then followed the instructions. After the drivers were downloaded I started the install. The first was a Bios update. It took about 3 or 4 minutes and then notified me that the computer must be restarted and noted that upon restart the screen would remain blank for several minutes. It never rebooted. Just the power light came on. I was afraid to touch anything so I left it alone till the next morning. I tried several times to restart it but nothing happens. The power button light can be turned off and on but that’s it. Suggestions?

Is there any hard drive activity - is the HDD light flashing or lit?
It’s quite possible the BIOS update has failed. Can you reach the BIOS to see if it can be rolled back?
If you force restart three times can you reach the troubleshoot screen?
Do you have Windows installation media? Can you boot from this & reach the troubleshoot screen?

There is no light lit or flashing. The only thing that lights up is the power button. Immediately after pushing the power button on you can hear the fan (I’m guessing ) trying to start up. The fan runs for 3 seconds, stops, and immediately starts back up for 3 seconds, and then stops completely. There is also another very faint sound that continues in the background for as long as I have power. I do not at any point have any screen activity. I have tried to add an external monitor to it but nothing happens. I do not have the Windows installation media. I am willing to take the back off if necessary. Are there any reliable hard drive replacements available? The computer was flawless until the Windows update in early January.

I suspect there’s more going on than a bad HD.
There may be a problem with the Motherboard &/or power supply as the fans are not staying on.
