    Computer booting to black screen

Hey there, I realize this is a common issue but I feel like I’ve looked up/ tried looking countless solutions to my issue l and it just ends in being frustrated.

A few nights ago I scheduled a windows 10 update, let it do its thing and was even able to use my computer as per usual. It was last night however that it decided to freeze up and now when I turn on the computer the asus logo pops on prompting me to go into the bios settings menu and after 3-5 seconds it goes black and doesn’t go anywhere from that point.

Everything seems to be getting power, the display is fine, keyboard and mouse is responsive when in the bios setting but that is it.

Nothing is overheating, nothing was done prior to this happening that I havent done before.

Is there something in the bios settings I can change? Any other solution?

    Thanks in advance.

Is the hard drive light on/flashing?
Have you tried moving the mouse in case the screen had gone to sleep?
Is it a desktop or laptop? If desktop then can you try another monitor?

Yes, yes and desktop, I do have a dual monitor setup. Trying the other monitor did nothing.

The only 3 windows I’ve managed to see are the initial asus logo and prompt to enter the bios utility menu, the menu itself and a black screen.

Once and only once did I leave it alone for approx 3 hours and it managed to get stuck on the spinning white wheel and stayed like that overnight .

After cleaning it again and unplugging for a 100th time its at least now made it to preparing automatic repair.

Going to see if it gets stuck here as well.

I wonder if it’s getting stuck on which monitor to send the signal to?
Can you use the Windows media or a Macrium boot drive to boot the PC to recovery? This is to see if a screen shows.
If you can reach Troubleshoot try rolling back the update via system restore.

I cannot. Any steps I need to access windows media/rolling back the update dont work. Other then ordering something online I have no means of picking anything else up as 99% of this city is closed.

Is there anything I can access on through the UEFI BIOS Utility menu that I may not be seeing that could help ?

These can be downloaded on another PC Then used to boot the problem PC, if the screen is still blank then the graphics card may have failed.
From what I know you’ll still see the manufacturer’s logo & BIOS when this happens.
