How to quickly find and move files via cmd - PC is shot

Not sure what happened, but my momโ€™s computer is crashing every time she tries to boot it. I attempted to uninstalled the recent updates and reboot, failed. I restored windows via the advanced system settings but keeping her files, continues to fail. Iโ€™m going to reinstall a fresh version of windows since it came with a lot of bloatware when she got it, but unfortunately all of her accounting files were on this computer. My parents are both self employed and will have to spend days, if not weeks, digging through files if I cannot get these recovered.
From the system recovery settings I am able to get to a command prompt, but for the life of me I cannot remember how to do anything (embarrassed to say took me 10 minutes to remember how to cd to a different directory.) I figured out how to move to where I thought her files should have been but cannot locate them.
Could someone help me remember how to search for files more easily, and then when theyโ€™re found how to move them to a flash drive? Iโ€™ve tried googling what Iโ€™m wanting to do but I honestly donโ€™t have enough time in the day to sort through tons of links to find what Iโ€™m looking for.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Bit of a disaster here just waiting to happen, not the time to lecture you, but data you have not backed up is data you donโ€™t care about.

If you are unable to boot into windows then the best way to attempt data recovery is to live boot the pc with a dvd or flash drive with Linux, say puppy or zorin.

Oh Iโ€™m very much aware. Iโ€™m also self employed and all my files are uploaded to a local flash drive, one drive, and google. My parents are not technologically savvy, and I have their business pcs backing up. They didnโ€™t let me she took over the finance side of the business and was doing it on her personal desktop sigh
Windows unfortunately blue screens every time the PC gets to the login screen. Iโ€™ll try your idea of booting off a flash drive with Linux. I have experience with Ubuntu so fingers crossed. So busy I forgot you can boot off a flash drive.
      Thanks for the suggestion

Good luck with it, and please no need to quote previous posts. Is there anything else with this thread or do you consider it answered?
