Windows requiring me to run Steam as Admin to download games.

Iโ€™m not able to download games to my A: Drive without running steam as Admin. Iโ€™ve figured out a workaround as Iโ€™ve set Steam to always launch as Admin but that has now stopped Steam for launching when my PC starts which isnโ€™t ideal. Also, the software Wallpaper Engine which is launched through Steam also wonโ€™t launch when my PC starts despite me having the correct settings so Iโ€™m thinking it also has something to do with these Admin privileges. Is there any permanent solution for this? Iโ€™d like to turn off Admin all together if I can but I donโ€™t know if thatโ€™s feasible.

    Hi,

Do you have UAC enabled when running Steam as an administrator?

If so try disabling UAC for administrators only and see if that solves the issue, Disable User Account Control(UAC) For Administrators Only.

Iโ€™ve disabled that and itโ€™s stopped a pop up coming up asking if Iโ€™m okay with this app making changes but thatโ€™s about it really.

It should still allow you to run Steam as an administrator without it prompting you anymore constantly.

Try running Steam normally without admin privileges and see it works now.

          Kezsora,

Can I ask that before starting any new threads you update or conclude any other thread/s first, it is not fair for folk to have to wait for a reply to their OP or single ongoing thread while others have two on the go with one of them left hanging, thank you for your understanding.
