Large FPS Drop When Opening Certain Programs On Taskbar

Iโ€™m confused why my computer lags incredibly after i open programs such as my gamecube emulator and my league of legends client. It only seems to lag when i open gaming related programs. After a few seconds its returns to normal until i click out and click back in again, then it lags again. Also this only happens sometimes but more often than not, and im lost for a reason why. Iโ€™m using Windows 10 Pro. Iโ€™m not sure what else I should specify.

sounds like something in the background is kicking in when you start those programs, does it thing, then returns to normal.
things could include, getting for updates, โ€˜phoning homeโ€™, updating log files, etc.
have Task Manager running and see what spikes (disk usage, CPU, memory).

letโ€™s get your complete specs.
get Speccy from here; Speccy - Download Builds
in Speccy, click File > Publish Snapshot > Copy to Clipboard > Close.
now you can paste(Ctrl+V) that link into a post.

You are almost completely out of storage space on the SSD that Windows is on and so low in fact that you could find that Windows will crash and not boot up again, no wonder Windows can`t update.

Partition 1
Partition ID: Disk #1, Partition #1
Disk Letter: C:
File System: NTFS
Volume Serial Number: AAE61F9F
Size: 118 GB
Used Space: 114 GB (96%)
Free Space: 4.26 GB (4%)

For Windows to be able to run efficiently and to be able to update you need to have between 20 and 25% of the partition or drive available as free storage space at all times, if you don`t you risk Windows becoming corrupt or not being able to update which puts you at risk of malware attack.

Data only storage devices should not be allowed to get any lower than 10% of free storage space of the full capacity of the drive/partition on the drive, this also to avoid data corruption.

Please note that storage devices can physically fail if the amount of free storage space is allowed to drop below the required 10 or 20/25% minimum.

Because you are missing so many updates a couple of which are quite large more space than normal will be required, uninstall as many unused programs, games, videos and music files from the SSD as you can, post back when you have between 25 and 30% free storage on the C: drive/partition and we can go from there.

I deleted a few things off of steam, would this be enough now?

that may be enough - itโ€™s certainly much better.
Iโ€™d still be cutting deeperโ€ฆ
empty recycle bin, delete restore points, turn off hibernation, delete user and system temp folders, empty browser caches.
a lot of that cleanup work can be done with programs like CCleaner or Glary Disk Cleaner.
Windows inbuilt Storage Sense can do this too. click Start, and type Storage and click Storage settings.
click the Temporary files group, let it scan, tick all the boxes and click Remove files.

looking better now with more than 40GB free space.
you should certainly be doing your Windows Updates now.
and if your FPS drops were lack of space related, they should be gone too.

also donโ€™t forget, to free up even more space, you have 1200GB free on D:\ drive (your HDD) so you can always relocate your Music, Videos, Pictures, Documents and Download folders over to that drive.

to do that, bring up File Explorer and right click on, say, Downloads.
choose Properties, click the Location tab, and type in D:\my files\downloads (change as required) and hit OK.
youโ€™ll get 3 prompts to create the new location, are you sure, and do you want to move or copy or something - basically you just hit OK for all the pop-ups.
when done, the system still shows things as it always did but behind the scenes itโ€™ll use D:\ instead of C:\

The lag has stopped! Thank you for the help, ill be sure to save everything on my hard drive instead.

You are welcome and thanks for letting us know but to help keep the computer protected from malware it is most important that you get Windows fully up to date asap.
