plug a mouse in and turn off the touchpad.
then see if the issue persists.
my theory is, as you type, your fingers (in particular your thumbs) are hanging just enough over the touchpad to get recongised and the cursor is either jumping around or the combo of that and a key press is the shortcut for zooming - something like that.
good news.
unlikely a keyboard issue then.
so itβs either a dodgy touchpad or you have to train or thumbs to be tucked all the way in while typing.
give the touchpad another go and this time pay close attention on how close your fingers are to it when things go pear shaped.
look in the touchpad settings and turn off anything to do with gesturing and see if that helps.
it could also be the area of the touchpad you are touching.
the extreme sides of it may be the area for scrolling/zooming browsers and windows with scroll bars.
there can be variations between makes/models of touchpads and makes/models of laptops.
since the PC seemed to be uneffected when using the mouse, the touchpad would be the logical source of your problem.
the issue is what is it doing and how to stop it?
get back to us on what the Lenovo suggestions turn out to do.
Not much to report, really. Lenovo told me to do a static discharge (no change) and to install drivers. They provided a link which took me as far as finding one update, but didnβt work. Clicked update/install, nothing happened. As a last resort they told me to do a factory reset. I havenβt tried that yet as reluctant to βloseβ all installations, but worth a try I guess. Iβve also enlarged cursor, on the basis of worth a go, but no change again.
Lenovo have offered a refund/return code, but, again, would rather fix it, if possible, than go through returning and so on, particularly at the moment, but, again, may be the best option, I suppose.
I have a volume problem as well, by the way, as in when I try to join family on Zoom no-one can hear me; same on Skype.
I would also be going down the replacement path.
yep, itβll suck being without it for a while, having to backup (something you should be doing anyway) and restore your files and having to reload the software and tweak the settings again all to your liking.
the flip side is you persevere with the touchpad issue and now a sound problem and 3 motnhs after the warranty expires down the track, something else goes wrong. the good news with the replacement is you get a new warranty period.
