Getting a DVD drive error on my computer...

I just finish setting up my new windows 10 computer, I found a CD that I burned years ago on my old Dell Inspiron XP windows. I put the CD in my new computer and a message popped up saying : This item was encoded in a format not supported. Is there anyway I can download something to open this CD or did I just lose all my old pictures..

It may be in UDF format, if so you’ll require Nero or try unzipping the file with Windows built-in software, you can also try to mount the CD as a virtual disk.

If not UDF then what file extension is showing?

How can I tell if it’s in a UDF Format? I put the CD-R disk in and the box only reads “format not supported”. It does read in the error box next to the video name “AVI file”, does that help?

If it’s an AVi file then windows media player should open it. However you can try VLC player:

I went to the VLC download site and it’s asking me which version of VLC I want, not sure which one to download..

Those are just various mirrors for downloading the same version so any are good.
