    Deleted usmt.ppkg, nothing works anymore

    Hi,

I have a computer with very little storage space (28GB).
I wanted to clear some space and I deleted the file usmt.ppkg (from C:\Recovery\Customizations).

After restarting the computer, I found out that I had no more mouse pointer, no more sound, and that the USB ports weren’t working anymore.

I was able to recover my mouse pointer by updating the driver in Device Manager, but it doesn’t work for the other issues.
I tried resetting the computer, but it doesn’t work either (which I guess isn’t surprising, since I messed with the Recovery folder…).

Anybody here knows how to fix this ?
Getting all the devices to work again would be great, but I would settle for being able to reset the computer.

Attached is a screenshot of my Device Manager.
My computer is an ASUS E200HA.
    Windows 10 version 1607 (OS Build 14393.2214).

    Thanks !

    Welcome to PCHF ImNotAlone,

When you tried to reset Windows did you choose the Remove everything option.

Yes, I did. I got the same message (There was a problem resetting your PC. No changes were made.)

Some update: I made some more room on my computer to perform the Windows update to the 1903 version.
Below are the errors I got :

There were problems installing some updates, but we’ll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help:

Any idea idea how to fix those ?
        Thanks.

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

            Hi again,
I created a bootable USB and re-installed Windows from there. It worked, problem solved. Thanks for your answers !
Is there anything I should do to mark this question as β€œSOLVED” ?
