Mozilla Thunderbird very slow to open

My email browser Mozilla Thunderbird is so so to open that I always think that it isn’t going to respond.
I then hit the icon again and even again and then after minutes have passed it wants to come on multi times.
I have looked at all settings but can’t see anything to help fix it. I am using Windows 10.
    Can anyone help, please?

I thought Thunderbird was an email client.
If you use another browser, say Firefox or Chrome, how fast do they open?

[Sigh] So as I am in my mid-seventies I used the word β€˜browser’ instead of the word β€˜client’. This gleaned one negative answer.
This forum is a shadow of its former self. [ I see VGER is still here.] In the old days, someone would have said that it isn’t Thunderbird that is taking so long to open it in Windows 10. I have noticed a large forum topic dedicated to this curse.
I would go back to Windows 7 any day. It had few faults.

        Back on topic…
Is the pc itself also slow?
Are other programs slow to open?
Have you tried accessing your email any other way like via another email client or via your internet providers online webmail portal?

          As well as the above

How many accounts and emails does thunderbird contain?

Have you tried compacting your folders?

What add-ons do you have? and have you tried restarting thunderbird with add-ons disabled?

Actually this forum has NOTHING to do with a previous one with the same name. The previous forum became defunct when the owner ran it into the ground.
