white rectangle in middle of screen

    Hello,
I’m having a couple of problems with my desktop PC running Windows 10, and I’m hoping someone here can help me to solve them.
Firstly, a white rectangle keeps popping up out of the blue in the middle of my screen and I cannot remove it. This rectangle shows the display settings; it shows above every window and every icon, and the mouse cursor goes under it when I move the mouse. I’ve taken a photo of the problem, which I hereby attach. This seriously interferes with the good functioning of the computer, because I cannot access anything under the rectangle while it shows. Any idea how I can get it to stop showing?
Secondly, the mouse cursor keeps getting stuck. I regularly have occurrences where there is no response when I move the mouse. I can always solve this problem by unplugging the mouse from the tower and then plugging it back in, but it is annoying to have to do that all the time. Any idea how I can stop this problem from happening?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Check to see if there is anything that may be hitting the menu buttons on the monitor?
Do you have front USB 2 ports that can put the mouse into temporarily and see if that corrects it?
Depending on you keyboard there could be a button and or combination that could be bring it up as well
What are the event leading to this?

There are no events leading to the white rectangle issue. The problem keeps happening out of the blue with no apparent pattern to it - including, sometimes, the white rectangle coming up on the screen while I am away from the computer and all the equipment is sitting idle, nobody is touching anything.
It doesn’t appear to be linked to any key or key combination being pressed either, or anything interfering with the monitor.
As for your suggestion to plug the mouse into front USB ports, I’m taking up the suggestion and following it - let’s see what happens.

It is not working. I’ve only plugged the mouse into a front port five minutes ago but the white rectangle keeps appearing.

another thing that you can try of you have an extra monitor attach that and see if the same thing happens?

Abandoned thread closed due to lack of feedback from the OP who has done the same elsewhere
