With DVD in โDโ drive, when I right click you will see โOpen Withโ is missing.
Can it be added to menu? If so, can you please assist?
what if you hold down Shift when right clicking?
that use to be the way, many OSโes ago, but Win10 changed that.
my guess it it is not showing because there is not associated software for the video format in the tray.
what DVD playing software is installed?
Hi Bruce,
Thanks for response.
Shift/right click doesnโt work.
Apart from VLC, I also have Pot Player which as you can see doesnโt show in menu.
Windows Media Player doesnโt play videos anymore in Win 10.
go to the MS Store and search on DVD.
see if one of those free apps will do what you want.
or just go to Cyberlink PowerDVD and download the free version of that.
pretty sure they offered it for free or at least enough of a trail that itโll give you something to go on with your issue.
Hello Roger, is this a new install of Windows? if so try this. Go to VLC and open the file in that program, and do the same for pot player. Sometimes Windows needs to open files in an app first to build a โopen withโ menu.
Bruce,
Thanks again, but I donโt need another player.
Tried the registry hack, but the โopen withโ entry is already in the reg.
Hello again Gus,
Tried what you suggested - no change.
What I would like to see in the menu is โopen withโ or โplay with potplayerโ
Even if I go into Default Programs and set Potplayer as default video player, the DVD still opens in VLC, and the right click menu only offers me play with VLC.
I have not tried to use it yet, I was hoping you could give it a good eyeball and possibility let me know if it would possibly solve any of the problems??
haven you scanned Windows for corruptions?
get into a elevated command prompt and do sfc /scannow
if no luck, you may want to think about a repair reload of WIn10.
The program you referred to โDefault program Editorโ needs to have Open With working. Setting default apps can easily be done by going to settings/apps/default apps/choose default applications by file type, and change whatever suits you.
If the above does not help will leave you with Bruce. no need for too many fingers in the pie.
Ran sfc /scannow twice - it came back with the following:
โWindows resource did not find any integrity violationsโ
Can repair/reload be done without going back to scratch? (I donโt want to go through the bother of backing up/re-installing programs etc?)
If I insert DVD it opens with VLC even though potplayer is set as the default player???
I have managed to get potplayer onto the autoplay list - so now if I right click open autoplay, I can select potplayer to play disk.
The next time I insert a DVD it opens with potplayer.
