    No internet access, network adapter code 31

    Hi all,

    I am struggling with my internet all day. I have no access for any network (red cross right down below). So today IΒ΄ve been playing around in device management, have downloaded wireless devices into my network adapter, reinstalled my computer. But nothing seems to work. After reinstalling a wireless device it says β€œThis device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)”.

    I lost my ethernet device and found it in hidden devices. But now something is wrong with my wireless device. IΒ΄m a bit desperate as IΒ΄m working on it for the whole day. Hopefully somebody can help me out : )

    Does this mean that you have the computer connected to the internet using the Ethernet port and that this works ok, we have to ask as you could be posting on another computer.

      no, I was using another computer to post a message. I have a MSI computer and it had WiFi troubles since I bought it. I could solve it with the Ctrl fn8 combination. But not any more.

        Can you post the model name or number of the computer that has the problem/s.

        Couple of questions for you;

        Does the wireless activity LED on the computer light up at all.

        Have you tried starting the computer in Safe Mode with Networking.

        Have you tried connecting the problem computer to the internet using the Ethernet port.

        Have you checked the Device Manager for any yellow ! or red X against the wireless device.

            I have checked the Device Manager many times. There is yellow ! before Wireless device. I always find the ethernet under hidden devices.

              Can I ask that you do not quote every reply, it really does not help any and just makes for unnecessary reading and If using a computer and not a mobile phone, please avoid adding multiple posts while waiting for us to reply to your last, edit your last post to include anything that you wish to add, this will ensure nothing gets overlooked which can sometimes happen if a thread has more than one page, it also avoids filling up folks inbox, thank you for understanding.

                      Which means that the device is enabled, had it not been blinking it would have meant one of two things, the wireless card was dead or that it had been disabled in the BIOS.

                      Not sure what you mean by the above, have you tried hard wiring the computer to the internet by plugging an Ethernet cable into the notebook,

                        It might be that it is disabled in the BIOS because now the LED light is turned off.

                          Or the device is dead.

                          Do you know how to connect the notebook to the internet using an Ethernet cable.

                            I am travelling through Colombia, so I donΒ΄t have a cable with me. Probably have to buy it? Also, I reset my computer and now I cannot login as it says that my password isnΒ΄t right (a bit MurphyΒ΄s law going on here : O )
