File operation ( copy ) error 0x80070052

Hi
I have a HP Laptop ( Win10 ) and a MicroSD card with a SD adapter.

I am trying to copy a music library folder ( contains about 13000 files ) from my Laptop hardisk over to my MicroSD card, which is inserted into the Laptops SD card slot.

i can copy the music library folder from the Laptop hardisk to another location on the Laptop hardisk no problem
But if i try to copy the folder over to the MicroSD i, eventually, keep get error messages for a range of files
0x80070052 “Unable to create file or folder”

It seems the error message allways promps me for the same files, and that error messages begins prompting and continues prompting with files starting with ‘W’
I end up missing a few hundres files on the MicroSD due to this error message

Why am i getting this error messge, and how can i solve this problem?

Is the sd locked?
Is the sd card formatted to exFAT?
Have you tried another sd card?

Im using a mp3 player to listen to music, FiiO X1ii
The FiiO X1ii uses MicroSD Cards for storage, so i have a Sandisk 200GB Micro SD Card formated as FAT32
Im using a Laptop with a SD Card slot running Windows10, hardisk disk is formated as NTFS (…)
I have a Sandisk ‘MicroSD → SD’ Card Adapter, as my Laptop only takes SD Cards. The Adapter is not locked, as the slider is pushed upwards
My music Library Folder is about 80GB, and is located on my Laptop
When i tried to copy the Library Folder to the MicroSD Card, the Micro Sd Card has either been empty or has had a previous Library Folder in there ( with about 400 missing songs/ files )

first thing I’d be doing is format the SD card as NTFS.
FAT32 has a max limit per partition. think it’s 32GB or might be 2GB (but i could be confusing that with early Outlook PST limits)

Im using a mp3 player to listen to music, FiiO X1ii

The MP3 played should have came with software that all you should have to do is connect the device usually via USB cable.
Then using the software transfer the files to the MP3 player

I know and i have tried, i get the same error message
I am currently using SD Card Adapter because im under the impression that writing to the SD Card directly is faster than using the connected mp3 player, i might be wrong

I think the partition size limit is 2TB for FAT32, in any case i had no problem placing 2 folders 60GB each, onto the SD Card formated as FAT32.

Your suggestion worked, i formated as NTFS and got the folder over on the SD Card without problems.
I guess i formated as FAT32 as it was instructed by the company in order to update the FiiO Player, and i simply saw no reason to change that.

I would normaly like to figure out the source of the problem, but seeing as FAT32 is old and being somewhat phased out i accept this solution.
I can also confirm the mSD Card works fine in the FiO player and it even ‘seems’ browsing and skipping is faster than before

Of cource, if anyone has an interest in figuring out why the error message appeared in the first place, im happy to revert the formating and keep going…

What also could happen once you put the card back into the player it may reformat the SD card for it to work in the player this would be due to the fact the player can only read Fat32 and not the NTSF.

Fat32 can only be 2TB partitions handling no more than 4GB file size.
Check to see if there was a file around 4GB or higher.

Fat 32 is more compatible with different devices than ntfs, as above the downside with fat 32 is the 4GB limit. If you have folders with files that are over 4Gb in total, not individual, your best bet is to create more folders to bring the total size under 4GB. For individual files over 4GB, and for mp3 that’s unlikely, you will have to split them.

I am already using the NTFS formated Micro SD in the FiiOx1ii, and everything works just fine maybe even better than before.

I did not get the impression that anything was formating when inserting the Card into the Player, but i can check if the format has changed. I can also check if i have files larger than 4GB, slthough i doubt it.
I think the Player must use FAT32 to upgrade firmware, but can run NTFS fine after this.

I believe you but this limit makes little sense, as i did copy a folder of 80GB containging 13500 files over to the FAT32 formated MicroSD. As stated i got error messages clos to 95% of the copy process, leaving me with an SD card with a folder containing 13000 files.This means i was able to copy a ( close to ) 80GB folder containing 13000 elements over to a FAT32 MicroSD. I was actually able to copy said folder two times ( leaving one original and one copy of the folder ).
