Hi guys, I am new to the forum due to my new found problem / error that is occurring on my PC. I have switched it on today, and have been greet by an error message; โrepairing disks, this may take more than an hour.โ. After that it goes into a black screen saying โreboot or enter driveโฆโ so on. I have reloaded by Boots and the BBS Hard Drive order, and according to Windows, entered the flash drive that I have downloaded Win 10 onto and tried to โrepair your pcโ. But to no prevailโฆ

but yeah, Windows found something wrong with the drive - either bad sectors or a change in the SMART values, doesnโt matter why, issue is drive is flagged as dodgy and needs repairing.
looks like that process itself is not working, maybe due to the severity of the fault.
I never trust a drive that has bitten my on the bum once, yes I backup like a god damn flat-earther, anti-vaccer, moon landing was staged, conspiracy nutter but if you canโt trust your primary means of data retrieval, itโs time to replace it.
I hear you Bruce, might need to get it checked professionally?? But the actual error code is, โReboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a keyโ. When I press a key, it just rewrites the same message repeatedly.
Have you backed up your data on that hard drive? If so then you may want to try booting from your Windows 10 installation media and try repairing the Windows installation but if you are getting the Reboot and select proper boot device error then the hard drive may have failed and you will need to get replaced.
You can also try reinstalling Windows 10 from scratch on that drive and see if your system actually boots up properly on that hard drive.
