    disk mgt make partition

HP support said the install function from the repair/install files on separate partition on HDD would allow me to make additional partitions. Well, it did not. So, right after install completed, I went to disk management to do so. However, the installed win 10 is occupying 3% of 880g hdd, but disk mgt says that only 470M is unallocated and can be moved to another partition.

I did a defrag and it only slightly changed that number.

    Why the discrepancy?

    Product number:V9B64AA
    HP All-in-One - 24-e025t
    win 10

    tks,
    paul

Can you show a screen shot of the Disk Management screen?

what is it you are trying to achieve, is it to shrink the C:\ drive?
because as it says, you can’t due to an unmovable file stopping that process.
yes, you are only using 3% of that partition but there is obviously a file that lives at the end of the partition that is stopping it being shrunk.
chances are it would be a system file like restore points, recycle bin, pagefile or crash dumps.
you could try running cleanmgr, defrag and Disk Management from Safe Mode.

other partition resizing software may move files as it shrinks, so try EaseUS Partition Master for example.

@paulmars if you want to upload pics fro imgur, the best way is to paste the file as a BBCODE link.
