    Help!!

I just built a new pc but when I start up a game I get an error saying that it failed to create a graphics device. I am using a Radeon 5700xt if that has something to do with it. The box for the graphics card says it needs a minimum Power Supply of 600, is that causing issues?

how many watts is your power supply unit?
have you connected all the power cables into the graphics card?

The current power supply is 450W, and all of the cables are connected.

Does your motherboard have onboard graphics? If so REMOVE your graphics card and plug your monitor cable into a motherboard port, reboot and see what happens.

If your card says it needs 600 watts and your power supply can only produce 450 watts (maybe) then one could say that is an issue??? Most specs for that card quote around 225 watts for it???
BTW: please no need to quote previous posts

I took out my graphics card and plugged everything in again. Nothing happened, my screen is just black.

So your computer works ok until you start a game, is that correct?

Now with your graphics card removed and the monitor plugged into a motherboard graphics port there is nothing, if so

Check with another monitor and or cable.
remove ram modules and check with using one at a time
if still no joy then it would appear to be a motherboard or cpu issue, more likely motherboard.

Ive gone through all of the games in my library and the following work.

              Total war: Attila
              Call to Arms
              Banished
              Men of War AS2

I don’t find any correlations between these 4 titles and it only confuses me more

But yes. The functionality of the computer is fine until I start a game other than those 4.

Did you install the latest video driver from AMD’s website for your video card?

Are you overclocking any components? Have you tried running the games in windowed mode instead of full screen to see if that helps? What build of Windows 10 are you using? Version 1903 is the latest version.

Do you have another video card you can use to test the issue to make sure the video card isn’t faulty?

the games that don’t work - did they ever work?
or is this the first opportunity you have had to play them on the new PC?
if so, is it because the system specs for those games aren’t met by your graphics card?

I used my old card and they work. It must be a problem with my new card but I dont know what it might be. They are games that I have played before and as soon as I use the new card they crash on starting with the β€œcannot create graphics device”.

Well then your new video card is faulty and you can either return your AMD Radeon 5700XT and get a refund or RMA the card and get it fixed.
