    HP Pavilion Display Error

    Hi,

My first post here, been having this issue for a couple weeks that has me stumped. I have an HP model 15-ac121dx Here’s what’s up: when I go to turn on my laptop, whether it be actually booting it up or just turning it on from sleeping, the display around 75% of the time does not come on properly. The computer itself runs, and I can verify through looking through a second display that it does boot normally, just no display. This has resulted in me restarting my laptop until the screen works. Sometimes it will have a faint flashing, other times, no screen at all. Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

    -Updating graphics drivers
    -Updating the BIOS
    -Doing a power reset
-Checking and reinserting the physical memory
-Thoroughly cleaning each part of the hardware
-Checking the monitor for any damage
-Unplugging and re plugging in the monitor.
-Using a different monitor I had
    -Googling the solution (multiple times!)

Everything done here has led me to no improvement, and thus I am seeking some help. If anyone can assist me with this, I would be grateful. Thanks in advance!

Looks as if your display on the laptop is faulty if the display on an external monitor is OK. Could even be the ribbon cable connecting the laptop screen to the motherboard?

The cable may be the issue. I know it’s not the LCD display because I tried using another one made for the same laptop and it didn’t work out either. Checked out the cable, looked okay, but after 4 years of use, it couldn’t hurt to try a new one. I’ll order one and install it and check back on on whether it works or not. Thanks for the idea!

          Update:

New cable has arrived, and is succesfully installed. As of now the problem is resolved. Seemed to be the right change to make.
          Thanks for the help!
