Radeon hd 6850 HELP

My radeon hd 6850 has broken drivers after a windows update, i have tried to fix this by uninstalling and reunstalling drivers to which has failed i have also tried disconnecting and reconecting the gpu to nothing has worked. My intergrated graphics works perfectly. This leeds me to believe that the graphics card is at fault, has anyone got any ideas to fix this issues.
Thank you for reading.

That card was released almost nine years ago and is no longer supported by any driver updates from AMD or any of the card manufacturers such as ASUS etc.

Is the card still working but only when using Windows own generic video drivers.

Okay. Have you got any recommendations for a gpu that requires the same power.

Can you answer the above and tell us what power supply and size case you have, many newer cards require less power than the HD 6850 but they can be quite large so we need to make sure that there is room inside of the case.

The case is big enough and the power is 450 w power supply. The only connextor i have free is from the gpu which is a 6 pin connector.

But is the HD 6850 working at all, if it isn’t there could be another reason for it** knowing your maximum budget and the type of port your screen has (VGA, HDMI etc) would also help.

** The HD 6850 is shown to require a 500W PSU btw, specs here a weak PSU may not be able to power an add on GPU and budget brands of PSU can never produce the claimed power output.

It may not be your graphics card then.

Are you ok with working inside of a computer.

Can you post the brand and model name or number of both the motherboard and the PSU so we can check the specs, you mentioned above that the computer was pre built, if it is a Dell or HP etc and it would be easier for you just post the brand and model name or number of the actual PC.

Trying to help you here but you are making it difficult for us to do so

As I said above it may not be the HD 6850 that is the problem, it could be the power supply, the motherboard or the RAM who knows, the reason for asking for the MB specs was to see if it has onboard graphics and the reason for asking for the PSU specs was to see how good or bad a quality it is, we could have just suggested a replacement video card for you but I`m quite sure that you wouldn’t be too happy if the replacement card did not work when you fitted it.
