Are the Windows 10 Guides still reliable links?

Malwarebytes real time protection flagged and quarantined the file at the following fileforum downloads link (which I found in the Windows 10 Guides) as a PUP, I believe due to its rather generic file name? maybe? The link appears to be from a reliable source so do I need to turn off real time protection or find another download source for the k-lite codec pack standard?
    Thank you!

The link β€˜bounces’ from fileforumbetanews to a cloud front webpage with FileForum_installer.exe, this imo is a little suspicious - why would a fileforumbetanews wish to install an exe, this may be why MB is giving a pup warning.
Find a more reliable installer for k-lite, I use their official webpage:
The K-Lite Codec Pack is a free software bundle for high quality playback of all your music and video files. It is easy to use, but also very flexible with many options. Enjoy problem free playback of MKV, MP4, AVI, FLV, and all other multimedia file formats.

just curious - is K-Lite still required?
I always thought it was used back in the days of Windows Media Player to provide playback of the new, emerging formats.
but software like VLC for example, which internally supports those formats does away with the need for codec installers.

I use due to converting videos & audio, I don’t know whether it does actually help but I feel it’s better to have it just in case I need it.
