CD drive on computer not working

Could some one help me please? I am trying to burn some photoโ€™s onto a disk and the drawer opens out sidewards. I find it a bit awkward because of my disability to put the disks in, it was much easier when the drawer slide outwards instead of sidewards (if you get what I mean) so after much fiddling, I get the disk on.

A green light flashes then a notice comes up saying โ€˜the directory name is invalidโ€™. Can anyone explain in plain Enhlish what this means please?

Have been trying to use Ashampoo and Burnaware programmes. Iโ€™m getting a bit fed up because I have all these images stuck on my hard drive and I need to get some of them off, so I can add some more. Iโ€™m canโ€™t add anymore until I get these imageโ€™s off.

Somethngs on there because I can see a line. because of my Aspbergers I am getting more and more wound up. Iโ€™ve tried ringing up the people who built my PC, but their not answering the phone which is really frustrating, yet they said I could call up if I needed any help. Fat lot of good that was!

I just want to know why my PC isnโ€™t reading my D drive or why it isnโ€™t showing?

Bit woried because of all the fiddling on my CD drawer just to get the disk in, Iโ€™ve damaged it in some way.

    Someone help please?

    Hello

Are you getting an error or exclamation mark in device manager?

Why not put the computer so the Drive is like Picture 1?

Until you get that corrected any disk you attempt to write will not write correctly since the CD is not sitting the the tray correctly where the laser beam can hit it correctly.

Other things that you could do are use USB thumb drive and put the pictures there until this get corrected.

Then you can transfer them to the DVD.

It seems to sit ok when burning, I can also see a line on the disk when I take it out to look. Were do I get a USB thumb drive?

So this problem is occuring because the drive is horizontal (as in photo 2)

Correct if that does not help then it could be the disk that you are using and or the drive its self.

That just means that the drive is a Re Writable.

Oh OK, just went into device manager and it said the CD cdrive was in working order. So it could just be the Tesco disks? Ive never had problems with them before.

You are probably not having problems with the disk and the drive . As I have stated before it is the fact that the drive is on it side and the Disk do not lay in the drive flat.
