    restart works like hibernate

Hi, I have been finding restarting my laptop is working like hibernate i.e the apps I open are still open when I restart. Some apps are closed, but task manager, notepad/wordpad or some other apps are in the same state as they were before, like I hibernated the pc and turned it on.
Same thing happens when I shutdown and turn on. Task manager is still open unless I close it before I shutdown or restart.
This feels like it has slowed down my laptop sometimes. Is this feature common in windows 10? It sometimes helps for the apps to be open but if it slows, then I want to stop it.

What are the steps you are taking to restart the laptop?

    Open a Admin Command Prompt
Type in β€œpowercfg.exe /hibernate off” without the quotes and press enter

    This will disable hibernation.

Hi, I need hibernate too since most of the times when I have to go out for a short while, I hibernate my laptop for easy access later. But after few times of this, I restart or shutdown if laptop seems to slow down a bit.

I just restart from the start menu.

Not to sure I have seen that if I have lest a web site open and reset and or did a shut down and restarted with the browser still open to that page it will when I start the browser.

As far as any other programs doing the same since I always disable Hibernate on my systems can not say.

Hi maxim123. Try disabling Fast Startup in Windows 10 and see if you can restart normally. See this link, The Pros and Cons of Windows 10’s β€œFast Startup” Mode.

one of the first customisations I do to all Win10 installations is turn off hibernation.
I’ve simply never had the need for it - plus SSD’s in my opinion eliminate the need also.
so I’ll bow out of this one.

I am really sorry. I have been busy with works. It is okay now, turned off the fast start which seems to work here. Thank you really so much once again.
