built in mic not working. wizard could not start.

Hi, bought a built-in mic headphone today, but somehow I can’t use its mic function in my laptop. I tried to test the mic but it says wizard could not start. I went to troubleshooter but they could not find anything wrong. I checked the mic function when I bought it so there should not be a problem with it.

Hello

Did the mic come with any software?

It is a headphone with built-in mic, so no software. This is the first time I am using such headphone so I have no idea if others come with software.

Right click on the speaker near the clock and select Record.
Is it showing that the Mic is plugged in?
If you speak into the mic is the level bar showing any movement?
Right Click and select properties

Now select the Level tab and make sure that it is not muted and it is see high enough to pick up you voice.

Go to Settings, then Privacy, then Microphone.
Make sure both the top options are turned on, and then enable any apps that you want to access your microphone.

Thank you . This worked. It was turned off it seems, probably because I didn’t use my laptop to record or chat.

but what about the dolbi error? what should I do for that?

and also the microphone is working but the headphone is showing disconnected (can’t connect even if I click connect in its menu) under the recording when I connect it to laptop with its wire, and only shows connected when I connect with bluetooth.

Leave Dolby alone if it isn’t affecting your headphones/microphone.

Headset is showing disconnected because you are in the Recording tab. Your headset will show that it is connected in the Playback tab.

That doesn’t seem right. Are the headphones outputting audio?

Yes the audio can be heard but they are just being treated as laptop’s own speaker or microphone when wired in. Only shows when I connect through bluetooth.

it is the same for my bluetooth speaker, doesn’t show when I connect it to laptop with wire, only shows when connected through bluetooth.

I would only worry about that if it becomes an actual issue. Things seem to be working as intended for now.
