For years I have been using a program that uses the F3 key to open a search window. Suddenly this no longer works. Instead of a search window opening, what is on the clipboard is pasted into the active window. The program vendors cannot help and say the problem must be with the computer.
I am using an Asus laptop running Windows 10 with 8GB RAM and 512GB SSD drive.
Could someone please suggest what my problem is? Thank you.
Is this just happening in this specific program or does in all programs?
To see if this is a system or program issue.
Have you gone through the program config or options and make sure that the F3 key function was changed?
The F3 key should be bringing up the find on page function.
It only happens in one program as no other programs I have use F3 to view a search window. I can find no options to configure any of the function keys; they seem to be set in the program. I have checked that the F3 key on the keyboard is functioning and it seems to be ok.
Try going to settings/ update and security/ then troubleshoot. Run the troubleshooter on your keyboard and hardware and devices. Maybe a long shot but worth a try. You could also check that your Asus drivers are up to date.
You may be better of STOPPING windows from including drivers from updates too, then delete the keyboard drivers with device manager and reboot .
