Keyboard and mouse drivers? Windows 10 drivers?

my keyboard and mouse stopped working on my gaming PC, like any good not super techie i unplugged it and plugged it back in. Nothing. Restarted my PC, nothing. Now i can not get back into my PC (password protected) because the keyboard and mouse donโ€™t work. Went into the Bios and the keyboard and mouse BOTH WORK FINE. i believe this may be a driver issue? but have no way to get into the computer to try and download drivers Has anyone had this issue or have any idea how to solve it? Canโ€™t find anything like this on google, they just want me to boot in safe mode from the desktop, that i cant access, because i cant log in, because my keyboard and mouse donโ€™t workโ€ฆ

    1. We will not assist with recovery of or figuring out of system passwords, for any reason.

Perhaps restore from a backup? or as you dont say what sort of keyboard and mouse, or pc you have, have you tried a usb or wired keyboard/mouse, or external units if it is a laptop.

Thanks for the reply! I IN NO WAY WANT HELP WITH MY PASSWORD. I know my password. Lol. The problem is that my keyboard and mouse donโ€™t work when I turn my computer on, but work in bios. They are both wired usb, not wireless. I have a Corsair STRAFE mechanical keyboard and a Corsair M65 mouse. And this is a desktop gaming PC that I built about 2 years ago and has been great until yesterday. What Iโ€™m asking is if there is a way to either download drivers for my mouse and keyboard without logging in OR if there is a way to make them work so that I can log in to download drivers or solve the issue. Again, I know my password, I just canโ€™t type it in since the mouse and keyboard donโ€™t work at the home screen.

Can you try a USB keyboard and or mouse which Windows should automatically load drivers for.

Long shot but try disconnecting your keyboard and mouse, boot the machine and then plug them in.

You also should not need any special drivers for your existing keyboard and mouse to work, They may not have any โ€œspecialโ€ features enabled but both should work for basic operation with the bog standard Windows drivers. Perhaps you could try restoring Windows from the install disc, or assuming you have access to another PC download an ISO and burn it to create one.

just make sure you get the same Windows IE: 32 or 64 bit, home or pro, etc.

I have tried standard keyboard and mouse as well.
I donโ€™t think Ive done it in the specific order of boot up THEN plug it in so Iโ€™ll try that.
But it looks like Iโ€™ll have to try this ISO you linked. Iโ€™m not to familiar with doing that, so it scares me a little. It wonโ€™t wipe my games and files will it? Really appreciate the help!!

Hey yaโ€™ll, i finally got it working again, just thought Iโ€™d post again to tell you how i resolved this incase someone else has the issue.
I went into the bios to check to see if if usb legacy was turned on, which it was, so i turned it off, rebooted, nothing. Turned it back on, rebooted and only one of my usb ports out of 7 was working! Plugged my mouse into it and was able to access my computer finally using the on screen keyboard. Went into device manager and found all of my usb ports were not only out of date but some how got turned off! After updating all drivers on my computer and turning those USB ports back on the issue was resolved! Thanks for the replies @gus!!

@Gtonma thank you for letting us know. Will mark this thread solved and closed.

Well now is the time to remind you of the value of system backups, as that issue would have been a minor inconvenience long since resolved. Remember data that is not backed up is data you donโ€™t care about.

No reason not to backup with such good free backup software like Macrium free and Aoemei free available.
