    Runs Really Slow

My desktop runs really slow. I use it mostly for web surfing and cloud-based business applications and though I often have Chrome and Firefox and IE running at the same time because of my work, I am amazed at how much faster things run on my little laptop than on my HP desktop. (n)

Can anyone suggest either a way to make it run faster or a computer that won’t make me sit there and wait for the mouse to get active again so I can open up more tabs in Chrome etc..

    Thanks!

Hi there @dmotel and welcome to PCHF

Please download MiniToolBox and save it to your desktop. Run the program by right clicking on it and selecting Run as administrator. When the program opens select the following boxes:

    Flush DNS
    Report IE Proxy Settings
    Reset IE Proxy Settings
    Report FF Proxy Settings
    Reset FF Proxy Settings
    List content of Hosts
    List IP Configuration
    List Winsock Entries
List last 10 Event Viewer Errors
    List Installed Programs
    List Devices (Only Problems)
List Users, Partitions and Memory size

Please post the log in your next reply

        Your MTB looks ok.

        [ul]
[li]Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt[/li][li]When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator[/li][li]When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following command into it, press Enter. [/li]
        [ICODE]sfc /scannow[/ICODE]
[li]Wait for this to finish before you continue[/li][li]Copy and paste the following command, press Enter.[/li]
        [ICODE]findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log > %userprofile%\Desktop\sfc.txt[/ICODE]
        [/ul]
That will create sfc.txt on your Desktop. Please attach sfc.txt to your next post:
        [ul]

Click β€˜More Reply Options’.[/li][li]Go to the end of your text (if any).[/li][li]Click β€˜Choose Files..’[/li][li]For β€˜File name’ paste this: %userprofile%\Desktop\sfc.txt[/li][li]Click the β€˜Add to Post’ link which will appear on the right when the file has been uploaded.[/li][li]Click β€˜Add Reply’.[/li][/ul]
