    Internet is permanently disabled

Used to use my pc daily a few monthes ago then one day, the internet was disabled. I have gone to a few IT friends and specialists but none could figure it out. I use a wireless connection but the people who’ve helped me said maybe try a wired connection. Was just wondering if anyone can help

Did you try a wired connection? Need to narrow the problem down. Could be hardware-related or missing WLAN/LAN drivers, although the latter is probably less likely since Windows (10) Updates deals with modern hardware pretty well.

Just booted it but after about a month and it says β€œan error has occurred during initialization. If this problem continues, please contact your system admin
        Error code: 0x80070426”
Also says my Windows Security system is disabled but when i try to turn it on, it says β€œit cannot be started”

Hi there @Uncaringsquash9 and Welcome to PCHF

I would try a hard-wired connection first. If that doesn’t solve it, please give us the actual hardware specs of your computer.

That error indicates a Windows issue. What version of Windows 10 are you on? 1803?

I go to check my specs and it says β€œcant collect info” on all of them. And my cousin gave me this computer a while ago so he probably wont remember

The latest version of Windows is 1803. They released a new update yesterday as well, so the latest build you should be on is 17134.228

Now that i think back, it might have been about a year since i last really used my pc, so would that be why its an older version? Also, i never browsed any websites, just used it for steam and youtube, but one of my friends said it could be from malware since things are disabled

What I would do, is do a fresh, clean install of Windows 10. Do you have a spare working computer with internet access and a thumb drive / blank DVD?

it could be malware. Are you able to start/stop services?

This is a list of default settings for each service.

But yeah, I would recommend a fresh install anyway.

Yes. You’ll need to either burn Windows 10 to a blank DVD or a blank flash drive.

Do you have one of those?

Nah, if you have nothing to lose on your PC and don’t mind clean formatting, I highly recommend what jmarket is saying.
