Win 10 start menu will not open and calender will not open

Neither will open. I have executed a system restore to previous dates twice and it works. Then I believe that windows installs an update or something happens and it reverts back.

Iโ€™ve read online that this is a consistent problem with Windows 10 (running 64 bit). Iโ€™m so sick of this OS.

Have you ran System File Checker?

Was this an upgrade for a previous windows version?

Have you disable Windows 10 from updating drivers?

Run a Check Disk?

Here is one way that you can pull the log to view it. You can also COPY and PASTE the contents from the CHKDSKResults.txt file into a post.
1. Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog, type powershell.exe, and press Enter.
2. In PowerShell, copy and paste the command below, and press Enter.

get-winevent -FilterHashTable @{logname=โ€œApplicationโ€; id=โ€œ1001โ€}| ?{$_.providername โ€“match โ€œwininitโ€} | fl timecreated, message | out-file Desktop\CHKDSKResults.txt

3. CHKDSKResults.txt file will be created on your desktop, that is the log file of your chkdsk scan results from Event Viewer.

Have you gone into the Store and checked that all the Software is up to date there?

This is not a Windows 10 upgrade. I donโ€™t believe that I have disabled driver updates.

Yes, I ran the sfc /scannow yesterday and again just a bit ago. It said that it made the repairs but nothing has changed.

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them.
For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at
windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For offline
repairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE flag.

The CHKDSK report log is empty?

Have a look HERE. Whilst there are a couple of ways to do it, this method for the pro version of 10 seems to stick longer on my Windows 10 machines. Some Windows updates will reset it back to default, so you should check it once in a while. If itโ€™s a Win 10 home machine then the registry fix is also listed in the article.

Whilst you are experiencing issues you may like to consider temporarily disabling all updates to test the PC? This can also be done for 10 pro in the group editor, or by disabling the update service found at Control Panel/administrative tools/services/windows update

Hereโ€™s another couple of ways to temporarily stop Windows 10 updates.

start an elevated command prompt and type in powershell and hit enter.
then paste this in; Get-AppxPackage -allusers | foreach {Add-AppxPackage -register โ€œ$($_.InstallLocation)\appxmanifest.xmlโ€ -DisableDevelopmentMode}
that will reinstall all Windows 10 Modern Apps and should fix your Calendar issue.
Start Menu issueโ€ฆ not sure, havenโ€™t liked it since day dot, I use StartisBack but there is also ClassicShell (no longer supported but still works nicely)

In regards to the calendar I tried this:
start an elevated command prompt and type in powershell and hit enter.
then paste this in; Get-AppxPackage -allusers | foreach {Add-AppxPackage -register โ€œ$($_.InstallLocation)\appxmanifest.xmlโ€ -DisableDevelopmentMode}

I am not 100% sure how to go into the store and check if the software is up to date.

No my photos wonโ€™t open again. Windows says, โ€œthey can not find themโ€.

Open Microsoft Store
On the top right you will notice three Horizontal dots
Click on them and select Downloads and Updates

Just below the three dots select Get updates (may take it a few minutes to run)
They will automatically download and install if any are avaible.

With my start menu down I am not sure how to find the store.

I found it in add/remove programs and it appears to be grayed out. I tried to lunch it and there is an issue. Itโ€™s giving me a message to reinstall it.

Do you have a second user on that system?
If so does the same thing happen on that user?

Have you tried this in Safe Mode?
