    Unable to Connect to Internet

    Hello all,
    I don’t know what the exact problem is so I wasn’t sure where to post this so here we go.

    Yesterday night my MSI GT70 laptop was no longer able to connect to the internet. I tried everything, the router was fine as multiple other devices (I have roommates all of who’s devices were connected with no issue.) Were able to connect and the router is a newer one perfectly capable of handling the amout of devices connected and then some.

    I ran through all the troubleshooting I could find, I restarted the PC, made sure nothing had been turned off or changed in the settings, reset network settings, diagnosed the connection on my adaptors etc. The adaptor has a red x in the corner despite not ever having been turned off.

    Whenever I tried to connect it would have me put in the password for the network, then the entire little widget screen would blink off for a second or two and come back up saying “Cannot connect to this Network” I reset to an older version of windows, no dice. So I did a factory reset. Still nothing.

    So I thought "Ok maybe it’s the actual internal adaptor an Intel Centrino Wireless-N2230. I thought maybe it had failed. So I snagged my boyfriends Netgear A6200 USB adaptor, downloaded the drivers on my phone, downloaded them on my laptop and… It read it at first but then stopped no matter what I did it won’t read it now. When it did read it still gave me the same “Cannot connect to this Network” error and still had the x beside it in my Network Connections. It works great on my boyfriend’s comp, he has no trouble with it at all.

    When I troubleshoot any of them it tells me I haven’t tried to connect to the internet at all (Which I have, a LOT.) And gives me no good advice for ways to handle it. It’s as if it’s not even reading the attempts I’ve made to connect to the network. It picks up the signals that there are networks nearby fine and the Wi-Fi symbol at the bottom right of the toolbar has a dot above it like it’s just lost signal and not like it’s not connected or on at all. Does anyone have any experience in this? Or even an idea of what might be halting the connection to the adaptors?

    I don’t know what to do, the internet produced no results when I’d searched for my problem and nothing else appears to be wrong with the laptop, everything else runs fine on it and without trouble.

    Model: MSI GT70
    Processor: Intel Core i7-3610QM
    Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX
    OS: Windows 10

    Can you tell us what you mean by a red x in the corner.

    Was this a reset of Windows 10 or an OS on a recovery partition on the hard drive.

    How did you determine that this is the device that is in your notebook.

    There are no Windows 10 drivers for the USB wireless device, what drivers did you try and did you uninstall the original wireless drivers first.

    This means that a wireless device is detected and there are networks available but your wireless device is not connected to one of them.

      and you are certain that you are typing the wireless password correctly?
      have you tried setting up the wifi connection from scratch.
      go to Start > PC Settings > Network & Internet > WiFi > Manage known networks > click your wifi network and click Forget
