    Symptoms
When you start Microsoft Outlook, Outlook does not automatically perform a send and receive operation to download messages from the server.
    Cause
This behavior can occur because of a damaged Send/Receive group within Outlook.
    Resolution
To resolve this behavior, create a new Send/Receive group in Outlook:
    [ol]
[li]On the Tools menu, point to Send/Receive Settings, and then click Define Send/Receive Groups[/li][li]Under Group Name, click the group, and then click Copy.[/li][li]Under Send/Receive Group Name, type the new group name, and then click OK.[/li][li]Under Group Name, click the old group name.[/li][li]Under both When Outlook is Online and[/li]When Outlook is Offline, click to clear the check box for
Include this group in Send/Receive (F9).
    [li]Click Close.[/li][li]Quit Outlook, and then restart Outlook.[/li][/ol]

On the Tools menu, point to Send/Receive Settings, and then click Define Send/Receive Groups
Ok, no problem. Got that up.
Under Group Name, click the group, and then click Copy.
      Ok, Done.
Under Send/Receive Group Name, type the new group name, and then click OK.
The existing one is โ€œAll Accountsโ€ So Iโ€™m leaving the new one as the default name of โ€œCopy of All Accountsโ€
Under Group Name, click the old group name.
Ok, thatโ€™ll be highlighting the โ€œAll Accountsโ€ group.
Under both When Outlook is Online and When Outlook is Offline, click to clear the check box for Include this group in Send/Receive (F9).
Ok, but I have to assume the top bit is online as it doesnโ€™t say so. But F9 is already ticked in both blocks.
But ! I see there is no tick in Schedule an automatic send/receive every 5 minutes. Maybe thatโ€™s the issue. Iโ€™ll tick that too.
      Click Close.
Quit Outlook, and then restart Outlook.
      Giving it a try now.

Yes that worked fine. Thanks again.

Now I just have to decide whether it is worth unticking the Redemption Helper Outlook Extension. But itโ€™s presently working better than it has for ages.

Ah I read you incorrectly, you said to clear not tick. Whoops. Still it seems ok anyway. Should I go back and clear it anyway ?

If it works, donโ€™t fix it.

            But DO disable redemption.

Worst case - disabling redemption causes a problem.
Start Outlook in safe mode, re-enable.

            Best case - Problem disappears.

Brilliant. All seems sorted. Unsure why it coincided with the Fall update though. Thanks again. I think this is solved. I leave it for a short while though in case something crops up.
              Thanks again.

PS eM CLient seems to work well with the secondary e-mail account.
