sorry, nuke it from space was a bad attempt to reference a saying from one of the Aliens movies. it means to wipe the PC and start from scratch.
I suggested creating a new ISO image onto a bootable DVD or USB stick to aid in the fresh install from said device if you want to go down that path.

creating another user would be another straw to clutch, you may get lucky and avoid the painful process of reinstalling everything again.

you really should think twice about running any sort of reg cleaning software. the one in CCleaner is considered a fairly light weight one in terms of it’s aggression, it takes a lightly, lightly approach. but since Win7, reg cleaners are simply useless in terms of improving space or performance. and in Win10 with the constant changes, they can be dangerous as the cleaner has no reference to those current changes by MS. even the official word from MS is to not use them. a quick search on the Piriform community forum shows many issues happening after users have ran their reg cleaner.
the only time I now use one is when the OS is acting weird, and then, only after I have exhausted all other avenues. for you, it may well be the reason it is acting weird.
the thing with reg cleaning is the side-effects can take months to show up, making the offered backups done by that process useless.

also consider making system image backups, I’ll let you read up on a great, common one called Macrium Reflect Free if you want more info on that.

as said, for me, I’d be fresh installing Windows and going from there…

Nah Im not ready to wipe clean (too much valuable data) an start over due to a small annoyance. Besides thats not really a β€œfix” thats more like a β€œtear down and rebuild”. Sure you do that when a building is on fire. But not if theres a leak or one floor has been flooded, thats more of a β€œit can be fixed, just have to figure out how to” problem.

              what’s it been, 6 weeks now…
sometimes it is faster to accept the fact that (for whatever reason) a complete rebuild is the β€œlet’s just get this thing fixed” solution.
the other alternative is to leave it as is, and as stated, the ball is in your court on that one. only you can justify the way forward.
yes a fix would be ideal, but none as been put forward with any success. (and that brings me back to the matter β€œwhat’s the quickest solution to this?”)

I thought you had tried that???
but yes there is, get into the ASO (Advanced Startup Options) menu and you can Repair (keeping your data) or Refresh (start anew).

Well as for β€œtrying” that, something happened to my pc then after it was fixed and rebooted a β€œattempting repairs” screen happened and after that finished the pc booted normally. So does that count?

If not then I didnt physically use the repair/reinstall windows tool because the guide I was reading at the time said i MIGHT need a recovery disc and not to attempt it without one. However my pc came pre-installed with win 8 then i upgraded to win 10, as such i only have a win 8 recovery disc and need a win 10 one. Thus I havent tried that yet.

without knowing why it did that β€œattempting repairs” process, I’ll go out on a limb and say No, it didn’t do a repair install of Windows, more like it may have been a repair due to the PC turning off abnormally, something like that.

here’s how to get into Windows 10 ASO menu; https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-acce...0-or-8-2626229
                      here’s where/how to get a Win10 image; Download Windows 10

but in my experience of using the Repair feature in Win10, you won’t need a recovery disc.

Well as for the repair attempt it happened because when I booted my PC it made an extremely loud siren sounding sound so obviously I panicked and quickly turned it out (later found out it was due to the GPU or CPU having heating issues, after that was about 75% fixed, I booted it again and thats when the β€œattempting to repair” haPPENED, THEN AFTER i WAITED AT THAT SCREEN IT BOOTED NORMALLY. opps caps.

Also just to confirm you said youve never needed a recovery disk? Lastly remind me again what all is deleted if you decide to repair but keep the Data? if I recall correct SOME stuff still gets deleted I just forgot what.

the repair feature keeps your programs and personal data and reloads Windows.
the dozen or so times I’ve done that process, it has not requested any other medium to get Windows from, it uses the hidden (usually) Recovery partition.
