If it doesnt delete anything but I am able to delete the files in question while using Linux. Then how does that help my inability to do so in Windows? That seems l =ike more of a workaround than a solution or a fix, I mean Id have to restart my PC and boot into Linux every time I wanted to delete something from the eternal drive then restart back to WIndows when I was ready to actually use said drive?
That is all that it is a work around that can be used while we are working with you getting this resolved.

Ok before I do that. A few question. My external is already FAT32 so I guess it wont have to format the drive to FAT32 but wont changing the multiboot and or the MBR delete data thats already on the disk (just like a format would). thus deleteing the files in question along with everything else on the drive which would make everything moot?
No you will be using what is called a Live version of Linux. Nothing to install or configure(except for the system to boot to the device holding Linux).
See if this helpsโฆ
One incredibly useful way that Linux has been adapted to the needs of modern computer users is as a โlive CD,โ a version of the operating system that can be booted from a CD (or a DVD or, in some cases, a USB drive) without actually being installed on the computerโs hard drive.
An error (1) occurred while executing syslinux.
Your USB drive wont be bootableโฆ
FAT32 filesystem detected. Your drive must be formatted as Fat32 or NTFS
is an error I got when the process started but after clicking ok it still completed it. Lets see what happens when I restart.. though Im guessing.. like it said it wont be bootable lol.. Btw whats the difference between FAT32 and Fat32 aside from alphabetic case?
It goes to the usb hard drive via whatever dedaul route it takes. I made no changes there I just browse for the iso and went to its location on my internal. The drive im attempting to use is 2tb
Have no fear Yumi (great app) will make a Linux live usb device easily, one of the great things about Yumi is it can create multiple O/S or app boot options should you choose.
When you run YUMI you will have the USB HDD disconnected.
ONLY the USB stick will be connected to your system.
After you create the Live LINUX USB stick you boot from it.
When you reach the Linux Desktop, THEN you connect the USB HDD.
So youre saying i HAVE to use a usb stick and it cant be extracted to a usb hdd? Also the issue is the error I posted above which tells be the drive will not be bootable
Please remove the HDD that has the files you wish to delete.
Thatโs the reason you got the error, you tried to format the USB HDD, not the USB stick.
If you check the pictures I have posted for you, you will see that I have selected from a drop-down menu a 28GB disk (this is a USB stick).
Oh. No one told me a flash drive was required. I was under the impression it coukd be done with ANY usb storage device, including a usb drive. Guess ill have to see if i can find a flash drive then
Ok so i installed it on a 16gb flash drive (and the install worked) but it wont boot from the usb. Ive restarted. It goes straight to windows. Ive went in the bios to change boot priority to ysb first then windows boot manager. Then saved changes and restart. It still boots to windows, next I kept the boot order changed the way I had it but disabled quick boot as well, save and restart and it still boots to windows. Lastly i went to exit on bios and choosed the usb option under โboot overrideโ and it STILL boots to windows. I have no idea how to make it boot from usb first despite trying everything i know
