Software installation error

Hello, I am having an issue trying to install software, it is generating these errors. The installer runs and stalls at this dialogue box.

Pressing OK then generates another error

The reason of listed it in this forum is because I tried another Windows 10 PC and it installs fine.

There’s heaps of hits on Google for this issue and a common workaround seems to be to wait until the installer stalls then change the attributes for the Program files installation folder and Program data installation folders to remove the β€œread only” flag. This of course cannot be done in Windows 10. I have actually created the program data install folder along with the program file install folder manually and given them full permission for all users.

I am admin of the pc, and its 64bit pro version, and the Author has nothing about it listed.

Any clues please?

Have you tried enabling the Admin account and installing the program from there? Another thing to do is try and install it under a clean boot.

Hi Gus. You need the Windows installer for 64-Bit.

The screen shot indicates he has the correct version.

I had exactly the same issue yesterday with a new install.
When it wouldn’t install programs, I then installed a reader, Adobe Flash player and Sun Java.
Then all programs installed fine.
On other occasions, it has been the Windows Installer, that’s why I mentioned.

I just got back from shopping and didn’t see the screen shot, Mal. My Bad!!

You shouldn’t need to install under clean boot, anytime.

I have ran into issues where this was a viable option, can you explain your reasoning behind this? Have seen an antivirus stop the installation of certain items… So yes there are times a clean boot will help when installing software.

I have, but what’s stopping you from turning off your AV for a short time, while you install.?
Works for me.

Not the issue here; a clean boot will put an end to a plethora of possible software conflict issues. Pretty well cut and dry.

Sorry I should have said I tried install with A/V disabled, although it is different to clean boot which I have not yet tried, but will do, slack for not thinking of it..

Guess we will never know the exact cause, but it now works.
Marked solved.
