    Where did my icons go??????

I accidentally extracted a rar file onto my desktop containing 100โ€™s of pictures and now half of my shortcuts are gone, and i have 100โ€™s of pictures on my desktop now, but 90 % of them I canโ€™t access becuase it seems like they are on another screen or something. How can I,I guess move my desktop over so I can delete those pictures and get my shortcuts back. I know they are on the desktop becuase i see a sliver of a picture way off to the side but most of it doesnโ€™t show.

Hi Brandon. You donโ€™t need your pictures in a rar file. What you need is one space on your desktop and make a new Folder, call it whatever you like, maybe โ€œpicturesโ€. Then hold the CTRL KEY down and select as many as you can at a time, Click on a highlighted picture, select Copy. Open your new Pictures Folder and paste the pictures in your Pictures folder. This will be quicker than dragging one picture in a time. Move the Desktop sideways at the top holding the Left move button down and slide Desktop to the Left as needed, to get more pictures that are hidden at the moment.
    See how you go.

Sorry DOUGIE, you misunderstood me, so what happened was I downloaded a rar file of 100โ€™s of pictures to my desktop, I chose the โ€œExtract Hereโ€ option when extracting becuase usually when I do that a folder will be created and the pic or whatever will be extracted goes into the folder that is created. Well this time no folder was created and it ended up extracting over 100 pictures to my desktop, when it did this it moved a bunch of my short cuts off of the screen, and now I canโ€™t get them. I think when I extracted the pics it extended my desktop screen but I donโ€™t know how to get to the part that got extended. I deleted the pics that I could see on the desktop, but I canโ€™t get to the ones that arenโ€™t showing.

Your shortcuts are hidden. Please follows my initial instruction carefully, and you should get everything back including your shortcuts.
I have done this a number of times, and it does work, Brandon.

Easy solution here is to perform a system restore.

Choose a point prior to the issue.

That may not be so easy, Malnutrition, as Windows 10 โ€œSystem Restoreโ€ is turned โ€œOFFโ€ by default.
Unless of course the user has manually turned System Restore โ€œONโ€

Depends if it was an upgrade or clean install. We shall seeโ€ฆ

If it was not enabled, then there are other options to correct the issue at hand. We will explore those, if needed.

Hey DOUGIE I tried holding the Left move button down and slide Desktop to the Left but it didnโ€™t work. What I did do was I went under display settings, and I changed the magnification from 100% to 125% then back to 100% and it showed a bunch of the pictures that I wasnโ€™t able to see, so I deleted them, then did the magnification again and again it moved the stuff over so I deleted the rest of the pictures and was able to get all of my shortcuts back. So now everything if fine. Thank you guys for the suggestions. I have learned a lesson now, that when I extract a rar file I make sure to do it in a folder, instead of doing it on my desktop.

Good you have got that sorted. Always more than one way to skin a cat, as they say.
                  Well Done.
