After windows 10 update I get the spinning wheel of death

After Win 10 does an update and reboots I get stuck on the spinning dotted wheel just before the log in.
It will just sit there forever.
I read online that unplugging my wireless mouse/keyboard dongle and doing a hard reboot works.
I tried this and it is successful but there has to be a better alternative.

It seems this wireless keyboard mouse stuff is causing almost more trouble than it’s worth.
I can’t wake up from sleep mode (in process in a different thread) and now the update issue.

FYI: This PC is new and I don’t have a past version of Windows to go back to, 10 is it.

It seems the Logitech brand of mice & keyboards are the majority if not all the culprits. I have both a Logitech mouse & keyboard & have had the revolving circle problem.
For me it started after a repair install in January (after the cumulative update), previously I’d had no problem with lading problems so I don’t know whether the Jan CU caused problems with Logitech or not, yet the Jan update originallly installed OK with no problem.

          Hi clarkgriswold.

Have you tried updating the driver for your wireless keyboard and mouse?

If you plug in a wired keyboard and mouse the issue goes away correct? If so then its definitely an issue with those peripheral devices.

Are the wireless keyboard and mouse compatible with Windows 10?

I believe I checked on the drivers, I’ll verify.

I have not tried a wired keyboard yet.

It should be Win 10 compatible, I think.
