How to replace Windows Explorer?

Hi!

I was using for replacing explorer program Clover which allows to me use tabs and bookmarks - work with many folders in single window.
I saw also xplorer2 - it also replaces Explorer and works same way…

I have simple Q with I mean hard answer, if any:

How to replace Windows Explorer with portable application?
By user’s choice.

If I understand you correctly, you want to use another file management program in place of Windows Explorer. To make a program like this the default file manager depends on your version of Windows and if I further understand the process it will mean doing some registry changes. Windows Explorer is built into your OS. It can be done but it is not an easy task. It could crash your OS if done improperly.

1st: I know very good that it can crash whole system
2nd: Sure it requires skills and registry editing
3rd: Full replacing Windows Explorer is impossible, only few programs have also copying and moving management its own - example is Total Commander - but this program is not able to replace Windows Explorer…

I need info, suggestions where to search and advices - I have good skills, but not so good to make it without any help.
My Windows is 10.1607.14393.693 Pro x64
Here it needs to wite - to avoid set explorer replacement to default after upgrade - simple example: I installed by trick Windows Media Center to 10.1507.10240 and after upgrade to 10.1511.10586 it was removed…
This never happened to Clover - mentioned above…

Windows 10 has made some changes in the way it handles the registry. It is supposed to be more secure but it does have a bad habit of undoing changes you make. How do we inhibit this behavior? At this time I have no answer for you.

1: How to show bookmarks bar or Favorites bar?
2: How to add to Favorites/Bookmarks places like Quick Access - they have new type of path: “::{679F85CB-0220-4080-B29B-5540CC05AAB6}” ?

To use favorites for files OR folders in XYPlorer use the “Favorites” menu. XYPlorer has a great help menu too…

Ok - this I know too.
But really again to 2 Qs:

1. Is possible to show any Favorites bar/strip?
2. How to add to favorites location “Quick Access”? This is only one missing feature - if it is possible I replace Explorer.
   Problem is that Favorite link “::{679F85CB-0220-4080-B29B-5540CC05AAB6}” opens Documents (instead Quick Access) and in Explorer.

Ok, now I found solution: User Buttons in toolbar helped me - it is now simple “Bookmark bar”…
Few settings and I can make it default file browser.
This thread can be marked as solved.
