    Linux as a Daily Driver

    Hey everyone,

I thought I would start this thread off detailing how we got into Linux as a daily driver instead of Windows or macOS.

I started off with Windows since I was a child. As I got older, I found that Windows became more bloated and more privacy invasive with every update. I wanted my privacy back. I started off in the Linux world with Pop! OS. At the time, it was rave about for gaming and stability. I liked Pop! OS and still do. I even tried Bazzite as it was stable but I ran into an issue where it would never receive updates and eventually the bootloader got corrupted.

I went through various distros before finally settling on openSUSE Tumbleweed. Iโ€™ve always liked rolling releases but hated the instability of Arch-based distros. I tried CachyOS and loved it but it corrupted my XFS partition with a bad update and no way to recover the inodes. Iโ€™ve been on Tumbleweed for a while now and can honestly say itโ€™s been rock solid and havenโ€™t had any issues. And if I do run into an issue, a simple Snapper rollback and itโ€™s as if it never happened. It definitely does not get enough attention as a distro but itโ€™s the most stable rolling release Iโ€™ve ever encountered.

What are your guys distro of choice as a daily driver? What made you choose it?

I have tried many, many distros. I have 2 PCโ€™s that run Linux. One desktop at home with a stripped-down version of Backbox that only runs BOINC full-time. I am planning to go to something like Linux Lite for the BOINC box.
I have a laptop HP Spectre x360 that has Kali on it. The reason for Kali? I just purchased a CompTIA Security+ exam voucher to obtain the Security+ cert and I figured Kali as a backdrop/testbed, would be beneficial for this. Once I accomplish this, I will probably go for the Cisco CCNP.

Iโ€™m currently rocking Bazzite. It has everything I need for gaming and is immutable so you canโ€™t mess up the root filesystem.

KDE Plasma is my choice as well, on whatever Distro.

I canโ€™t remember where I came across this, but itโ€™s cool. You can try out the different distros and switch desktop environments on most.
              No download needed.
