    Pictures

I will try to explain. I had Linux Mint Cinnamon 19 everything messed up so bad so i reloaded to Linux Mint Cinnamon 19.2 thats my O.S. now. I have a USB with pictures on it as back up. All those Family and racing pictures show as text read only. Is there some way to see these pictures again? I hope so. Heres a screenshot of what i mean.
    Thank,s Chuck

it’s probably as simple as there is no association between picture files and the program needed to display them, or there is no program installed that can display them.
what photo software have you installed into the OS (although I’m sure all Linux distros come with something built in)?
get VLC for starters, as you’ll want it anyway for other media file formats down the line.

here’s how to install VLC for Mint; How to Install VLC in Debian, Ubuntu, and Linux Mint
once installd you should be able to right click a picture, click open with and select VLC player, and before clicking OK, click Set as Default.

You can not open files that are in the trash can you will need to restore the file and then see if you can view it correctly.
