    Internet

Iam not very smart with computers, but i will try explain it all the best i can.
I got Linux Mint Cinnamon 17.3 ISO on a USB only to try, its not installed. The laptop i have has Windows 10 i would say 2 1/2 years old. I rarely get on Windows 10 because of this little problem.

I got on drag racing site this week and news site last week, this all on Windows 10. Both times i got a
( fake microsoft virus alert ) scam no doubt. So i reach up held the power button ( hard kill ) i then rebooted and run
( Malwarebytes and Adwcleaner ) both seperate and thay showed 0 detections. I run these everyday. I do no how to get in task manager and how to end task on things. But can i do this on this problem? I have no clue what to end task on.

I realize them scammers are just trying to get get bank and credit card info $$$$$. This doesnt apply to me though. I have no bank info to get. Iam in a resthome. Thanks Chuck

Yes they are scams and should be ignored.

Does the screen come up when you boot to Windows 10?

Does this come up when you go to the sites? Screen shot please.

Be careful power off the system by holding the power button down can cause the system to stop working.

It boots normal to Windows 10 .
I most certainly will, ignore these scams.
I havent tried the same sites, but i will.
I dont have any screenshots but if it happens again i will send one.
I just booted into Windows 10, it booted just fine.
I have ( Boot Racer ) it showed about 29 seconds, thats also fine. Boot time is 18 to 30 seconds. I dont have an SSD.
The computer has no malware. I never download, except i do have ( Ccleaner, Malwarebytes, Adwcleaner, Uncleaner, and my antivirus is Windows Defender, USB Imunizer-Bitdefender, Classic Shell ) This is all i have downloaded.
I have no games downloaded or go to **** sites.
I went to the same exact same news site, i only have 4.
Now the drag racing site i went to, iam not sure. I have at least 200 of them, maybe more.
          Thanks Chuck

You may not want to just as a precaution. The reason I was asking about the screens to see if it was just and scare add on the actual site or a pop-up window.

Should be able to do CTRL+Delete+Alt and close out all of the browser windows that way. Just select then one at a time and select end task.

Let me see if I can save you some time does it look similar to some of these?

Exactly like the first one, the first time it showed it and said you have a virus, call microsoft and had a phone number, which i no is scam. Plus it said your hard drive will be erased.
The last one said you have a virus on your computer, call microsoft and give number, very similar to your bottom screenshot.
People still fall for crap. Is it just a scare tactic? Thank You Rustys
              Thanks Chuck

That is all that it is a scare tacit.

To get people to call and give their account numbers for payments and they have to have remote access to your system. Some state to install this software that does nothing but open pots on your system so they can steel data or offer to fix it for a fee.

My favorite are the β€œYou windows version what ever are out of date install and run this to update them”. Oh by the way I am using Ubuntu Linux.

Try using THIS to reset your browser. It appears your using Internet Explorer there is also a guide HERE. If they don’t work it’s best to move your thread to Malware help. Let us know the outcome and Ill move it if necessary.
