    Not really
Microsoft will offer a paid security support add-on for Windows 7 after official support ends
support for Windows 7 ending on January 14 2020
    This hasn’t changed.
Only those running Enterprise editions and volume licenses are eligible to buy support. MS did this with XP when businesses did not appear to be upgrading at the pace MS wanted.

Please alert home users that they can not buy support and won’t have to pay to use Windows 7. Patches will be issued through January 14th 2020. So 15 months or so.

Yes really, I believe thats what the gist of the article amounted to.

My thoughts remain that businesses will not wish to outlay more money on an outdated O/S so will decide to scrap 7. Private users that havent upgraded to a modern O/S by then will probably not care about updates so will be open to intrusion which may be the final push needed to update to something more suitable.
