No the access point is wired to main router with power line network. Itβs just unfeasible to hardwire unfortunately. I assumed Iβd setup the 2nd router as an access point.
Do I need a mesh network

You are missing the main point.
Are they on the same circuit.
By same circuit I mean that if you trip the breaker on the line the internet modem router is connected to
then the power point that the 2nd AV600 is plugged into will also power off.Comment

Yes. If I shut off power from the main CU to the ring main, then yes the power to the conservatory also goes. The trip switch is only there to isolate power to the conservatory to conform to building regs at the time and the fact it was a really old CU when conservatory built. Itβs now a modern CU. Apologies if I wasnβt being clear. :-(Comment

Ok, so done some speed tests this afternoon. Looking at the results that seem better than previous, I think Iβm just seeing the inherent issues with powerline networking. Im using AV600 units, that have a 100Mbps ethernet port, so thatβs 1 limit there already.
FTTC Connection 80/20
Sync at 74.5/19.9
Connection speed of powerline units to router approx. 120mbps.
Laptop Speed test Main Router
Wireless 62mbps
Wired 65mbps
Laptop Speed test Main router using Powerline Main House
48mbps
Laptop Speed test Main Router Using powerline in conservatory
25mbps
Phone Speed Main house
67mbps
Phone Speed Conservatory
64mbps
Also the laptop im using is quite old from around 2008 or 09. Its only got an older Realtek FE ethernet controller with a 100mbps port.
My sons PC is connected via a powerline and hes getting at least 60mbps, but his laptop is relatively new with a gigbit port etc.
in reality I dont think there is much more I can do, with the limitations I have unless I go and purchase a mesh system, which for my needs I think is overkill.
i might just change the 2nd router SSID and just uise that for connection to the printer and roku box.Comment

Ok a couple of things.
No apologies needed.
From what you explain I understand that the conservatory is on itβs own line.
The point I am trying to make is you do not put the AV600 in the conservatory.
Your house will have different power circuits.
Example:
A circuit breaker or fuse for lights.
A circuit breaker or fuse (more than 1) for power points in the home itself - NOT the conservatory.
What you need to do is in a room that is close to the conservatory that is on the same power breaker as to where the main router is plugged into.
That is where you put the AV600. You then plug the second modem router into that.
When a house is wired for power points they normally have 3- 4 rooms where the power is looped from one power point to another.
That is why when one fuse blows you loose power to more than 1 room.
So the Tv room and the study and bedroom can all be on the same fuse line.
They are looped from one power point to the other.
Does this make it any clearer?Comment

Being that the OP revisited the forum but left no reply after Peter had requested an update this thread well be closed as having been abandoned.Comment
