My wired Xbox 360 controller suddenly stopped working with Skyrim [PC]. On the main menu only the "a" button works and in-game, the left/right triggers work in the journal. But other than that, nothing on the controller works. What's odd is, the controller still works perfectly fine with Fallout 4...I have spent hours researching and trying to fix this issue with no success. I also use MO2 if that matters.
Fixes I have tried that did not work:
  • I enabled the Xbox 360 controller in Steam and the Skyrim Settings>Gameplay menu
  • I tried both bGamepadEnable=1 and 0 in my SkyrimPrefs.ini
  • I tried plugging my Xbox 360 controller into every USB port.
  • I uninstalled and reinstalled the controller and restarted my PC.
This issue started when I unplugged my controller to change the keybind for Quicksave. When I plugged my controller back in, it wasn't working. I've since changed Quicksave back to F5 but my controller still won't work properly.

Can you post your mod list for Skyrim? Have you tried running the game vanilla to see if it works?

I feel like I've always had massive issues trying to get a controller to work with PC Bethesda games personally...

You may also be able to locate the file that contains keybindings, delete that, maybe verify the integrity of the game thru Steam, and run?

Another forum indicates it should be located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim\Data\Interface\Controls\PC\controlmap.txt but I'm unable to verify as I don't have Skyrim installed on this machine.
