Hello everybody ! In December 2022 I was getting ready to rebuild my Windows 7 based PC and as part of this I saved my whole system using Windows Easy Transfer (WET) to an external hard drive. Lots of frustrations ensued and it ended up as a totally new Windows 10 PC. I run the Trainz 2019 rail simulator and my "routes" were on the old PC and I presume are among the old Easy Transfer files but I cannot open them on Windows 10. I have a Windows 10 laptop which I could install Windows 7 on as a last ditch measure but what I'd like to know is "Is there any piece of software or any other method by which I can OPEN the WET files on my Windows 10 PC ?". I've googled this but all the answers seem to be about alternatives to WET transferring.
Thanks in advance !

g'day and welcome to the forums. :)

is the Win7 machine unavailable?
another option, install Win7 in a Virtual Machine on the new laptop. use something like Oracle Virtualbox or VMware Workstation.
that will save the minefield of dual booting!

Thanks for the advice ! The only bits of the W7 machine left are the RAM, 2 x M2 SSDs and an LED fan. I tried a clean install of W7 on the laptop but couldn't do it. I will look at the virtual machines or try to find a cheap W7 laptop.

I've installed VMware Workstation on my rig and W7 Pro onto it, which went remarkably easily. The WET transfer (52.9GB) is taking forever but will be worth it assuming I get my routes back intact.
I tried the Oracle version on my laptop but it kept wanting various other add ons and I eventually gave up with that one .
