It's been a few weeks since I enquired about winver 2004.

Is it now OK to download or is there still problems with it ? If that is the case should I leave it for a while?
 
I would continue to wait as there’s more problems being found since release.
The general consensus is if 2004 is offered via Windows update then it is safe but imo I would still wait unless you have a image backup which you can use to roll back as some users have found the Windows roll back option isn’t available even when it’s well within the 10 day limit.

If you don’t have any image backup (Macrium) then I would wait until the kinks are ironed out by Microsoft, if you do have a backup then you can download it.
Supposedly it is safe to download 2004 if it is offered.
The best option would be to wait a few months.
 
I had 50/50 success with my two computers at home, the gaming rig with the better spec no problems at all but the old notebook got to the final stages of install, pulled a :( face then rolled back to 1909.

Been pondering trying an SSD in the old notebook so I might try clean installing 2004 from an ISO to see if that works.
 
You would be well advised to wait, let others be test pilots. I have a spare Pc updated to 2004 but from researching the net I must be one of the lucky ones. There is nothing regarded as must have in the new update anyhow. Mine doesnt appear to suffer the common to 2004 constant defrag issue either, who knows maybe microsloth fixed it????
 
I'm installing W10 on about 120 systems per week (90% notebooks), so I decided to try v. 2004 on some to see what happens -worst thing: have to re-install them.

Up to now had a few issues with fingerprint reader (on HP and Lenovo) and touchpad (on Acer), all of them Notebooks.

Fingerprint reader is notoriously iffy -no surprise there- basic troubleshooting resolved the issue like on version 1903.
Touchpad issues on ACER notebooks, well this most of the time looks like a flip of a coin...

No desktop PCs showed any issues, but then again I work with vendor systems (MSI, HP, Lenovo, ACER, ASUS) and not self-built systems.

What I did notice, however was that I had fewer problems with AMD Ryzen on Notebooks.

All in all I tested about 50-55 Notebooks and 23-25 Desktop PCs.

Please remember that all systems mentioned were first wiped and then re-installed from scratch, not recovered.
 
I’ve put it on 2 of my home PCs so far, and slowly rolling it out at work, done 7 to date - no issues with any.
There has already been some minor version released for 2004 so it’s really personal preference if you want to wait or blaze ahead.
