I've been using a external HDD for file storage for a while now. Up until this morning it's been working fine. Then this morning when I plugged in the external drive it's not showing up in This PC, I went to Disk Manager and it shows there but it doesn't have a drive letter assigned to it and its showing 100% free space on it. I'm not sure what is going on it was working fine yesterday. I do have quick-removal enabled so I'm thinking it can't be an error when i removed it. I did use a program called USB Safely Remove, to remove it yesterday, becuase I've been having trouble with Windows saying I can't remove external HDD's or flash drives becuase they are in use by another program. I force stopped it yesterday, to remove it, which I've done before and it always worked fine. Does anyone know what I can do to get it to show up in This PC, also did it somehow erase everything on the disk and if so is there a way for me to recover all my files?

Update: I'm an idiot nevermind I just had to assign a drive letter to it. I don't know why it didn't have a drive letter assigned already but whatever, it worked.
