Hi, I’m trying to install Windows 10 from an official DVD. I have also tried a USB stick and my own DVD burned from Microsoft’s ISO file. I am using a new Samsung Evo SSD to install onto. The bios is set to boot from the DVD.
Each time, I get a blue recovery screen. It’s as far as I can get. Any ideas please? Thanks in advance…

Hello Curlykale3m,
I’m trying to install Windows 10 from an official DVD.

It doesn`t affect the fact that you have tried an ISO etc but can I ask what you mean by an official DVD, due to the cost Windows media on DVD is almost a thing of the past.

As to suggestions, we need to know something about the computer that you are trying to install Windows on, is it a new build or an old rig being upgraded. if the latter, do you still have the original boot drive and if yes is it working ok.

Is the Samsung SSD out of the box new.

Are you replacing a old HDD with the SDD? If so then you can image the HDD using Macrium Reflect (remembering to create their USB boot media) then swap the HDD for the SDD, boot from the Macrium recovery USB & restore the image to the SSD.

If not or you wish to clean install Windows then are you booting into the installation media & deleting all partitions on the SSD then choosing the blank partition to install Windows?

I bought the Windows DVD from a software company but I also have my own DVD as mentioned.
I built this PC and I still have the older SSD with Windows on it. It kept restarting my Windows unexpectedly. I decided to reinstall Windows but wanted a bigger SSD and so bought a new SSD from Amazon.

I am replacing a 500GB SSD with a brand new 1TB. My Windows 10 had a bug and restarted unexpectedly. I did not want to copy it for this reason.

As phillpower2 mentioned have you removed the old SSD from the PC? I would need to remove the old drive & replace it with the new 1TB drive.

Strange as the error in the screenshot is telling us that there is a problem with the Windows bootloader, there is no way on this earth that you should be getting this from a Microsoft retail DVD, a bad ISO yes.

Can I ask that you do not quote every reply as we have to read the full post to make sure nothing gets missed,, thanks.

Thank you, sorry, I didn’t realise that I was quoting any reply.
It’s sorted! I migrated the old Windows to the new SSD using Samsung’s software.
This time, I did get a ‘boot from the DVD’ and Windows is installing!!! Thank you for your help.
How do I mark this as ‘solved’ I don’t want to waste anyone’s time…

Glad you got it sorted and thanks for letting us know, thread will be marked accordingly and no ones time wasted (y)
