Though I said the problemwas siolved fellas -it is now -welland truly
Windows 10won on a penalty shoot out !!
After switching off and on again - the unthinkable has happened !
All works - reasonably quick startup -access toprogs -and beautifulphoto screensavers etc............and the cad isin demo mode ie you can only view the drawings already drawn
Whilst the option to save all files waschosen during the upgrade and repair upgrade processes to get it to this stage it hasnt saved the very "key"in there that will allow amendment and creation of new drawings and I`m now left with a useless white elephant that I will now have to reinstall , throw myself on the mercy of the sware designers or purchase a new license key Watch this space & Dont mention Win 10 to me !!
Whats the Miccrosoft address ? --Pass me the rifle!! ************

Hi there fella -will try that but as youre obviouly more pc savvy than me you might be able to help me on this
I have old parallel (printer) port hasp key module that plugs in at rear
I also note in software file there is a file that says do not delete and looks like this :-

$***sec$ whichI am pretty sure is tyhe "lock key" so I think the info is present on PC but not "in the correct relationship"
Just wonder if the hasp P/Port dongol needs a driver for Win 10 (or whether they dont do one ??)

........but then I get popuop that "security device doesnt appear to be serving this directory"
Thats when I start to glaze over but live in hopes that (as everything else is now running sweetly) that you whizzers can offer some hope now that Ive cooled down a bit and put the hammer and rifle away!!

Have been on sentinel and other hasp sites but Im afraid I end up with a thumping head when I read their info !!!

Contact the Hasp Key supplier for information regarding it's use.. being an old parallel port type key my guess is that it probably isn't designed for modern pc's and therefore if there is new software available for it the supplier will be the only ones with that information.
These keys are often designed for use with specific programs such as those which use sensitive information within a business environment.

that sadly has been the crux of the problem d-i
the software wasprotected by the hasp -one pc one user -to guard against illegal copies/users so the charge is for a repeat license I can try them -I could even oiffer to send the old hasp back as proof and them issue me a new one registered in my name --or my other is to get new pc and latest version of software and latest key for 10 -that way SHOULD be reasonably future proof for a while

Thoughts please???

cheers crackers
