I tried to use this random drive a couple of hours ago, and it just made weird clicking noises for like 20 seconds and then it died. Here's a demonstration:

Does anyone know what's up?

Would agree, the dreaded click of death, failed heads would be my guess.

If you want to try this way to see if you can resurrect the HDD.. This has a 50/50 chance of working.. Take the HDD in a freezer bag (get all the air out as possible) and place it on a towel inside a freezer,it has to be a deep freeze kind. Leave it there for 3 days. Have your setup ready and is best if you use it as an externally drive hook up. I would suggest you have a fan blowing on it to help dry the condensation and have a towel for that as well. Give the HHD time to loosen up a bit about 10 minutes and then try to power up the HDD connected to another pc. I have done this on a HDD that wouldn't start and it worked and got the files and data i wanted off of it. Still works btw,but i would not trust it for anything of major importance.
