Hi Dougie. Yes mate there is. Its the Mrs photo back up.Hi Gibbsy. Is there any data on this drive?
My USB external drives will not show up unless they are formatted with a drive letter.
How do I switch from USB3 to USB2 rebooted etc mateOnly yesterday, I had an SSD in an external enclosure, and would not show up in Disk Management,Device Manager.
Switched from USB3 to USB2 rebooted, and showed up in Disk Management, and Device Manager.
The USB3 ports are working as I use it for my Flash drives, webcam etc,
The external drive just would not be recognized in the USB3 ports.
How weird is that?
Yeah tried on both laptops, no joyTo add to Dougie's suggestion is there another pc you can try it on?
as Dougie said, USB2 ports usually have a black bit of plastic inside that forces you to orientate the USB plug only one way.
USB3 are usually blue.
but in both cases - not always.
if it also fails on other PC's, it's looking more like a caddy or drive itself issue.
We are all still learning and rest assured there will be many folk that read your thread and then hurry off to back up their data.I am just going to have to back up what I have and consider it a lesson learnt.
