Hi all,

Great to be a part of this site. I was hoping someone can help me, I’d be really grateful for some advice. I was recently preparing my sons PC for sale and after successfully backing up data, I then went through the correct process of resetting, as per the instructions in this link - https://www.laptopmag.com/uk/articles/reset-windows-10-pc

I selected ‘Remove everything’ and then ‘Remove files and clean the drive’.

It then displayed a % progress until the screen displayed the following (see image). It remained on this for 12-14 hours and thought this was far too long and something not right. I switched off the computer and then back on, and again its still displaying this MSI logo screen with the message ‘Press <Del> to run BIOS setup, or <F!!> to run boot menu’.

I have tried both these instructions and is unresponsive. The progress wheel still rotates, and the screen will flash on and off intermittently.

From everything going ticketyboo initially, this unusual looping situation is frustrating. Please can anyone shed any light on why this has happened and how I can simply just reinstall Windows 10 ready for the next user from this.

** It is a gaming PC, so all the parts that make up its whole are as follows…

since you have all your data backed up and want to wipe the drive and reload Windows, I'd be getting the latest Windows version using the Windows Media Creation Tool (from here), making a bootable USB stick from it and using that to load a fresh version of Win10 onto that PC.

during the install, one of the first screens will prompt you about drives and partitions, take that oppurtunity to remove all the current partitions, leaving the drive 'bare' and allowing Windows to auto setup what it needs.

once installed and you are online, Windows will auto-activate.
you're then good to sell it.

Hi we have tried this procedure. We got the media creation tool onto a usb but it's not possible to install it - the pc won't get past the 'no signal' stage. There is no other screen.The pc just isn't connecting to anything! I think it might be a problem with the motherboard? What further can you advise? Thanks
 
have you pressed Del to get into BIOS?
once in, look around and check the hard drive is being detected and is first in the boot order.

something else to try, with the USB with Win10 on it connected, reboot and hit F11 to bring up the boot menu and tell it to boot from the USB stick.

how did you backup the PC, did you play around with the internal drive, cables etc?
if so, is everything back the way it was?

The media creation tool it software that creates the install software onto the USB for windows 10

You will need to download and run it form a computer following the on screen instructions.

Hi Bruce,

The only thing that displays is what is displayed on the photo I attached of the monitor 'MSI' logo screen. I tried to press DEL as it says and F11 but it is unresponsive.

I backed up the PC in the text book way as of WIndows 10 in the backup section. It worked successfully and have everything safe on external hardrive. No I didnt play with any internal drive or cables.

Suggestion
In Pic # 4 you can see a little battery.
Remove the power cord from computer.
Touch some metal to earth yourself
flick the little catch to remove CMOS Battery
Press the ON button a couple of times to drain all the power from the board.
Replace the battery (and power)
Turn on and start tapping the DEL key and see if you can enter BIOS.
If you can't lift the battery out easily use a pencil or wooden cooking skewer - Not a metal screwdriver

Most of this stuff I've already done. It just won't respond to F11 or Del, however long I press on them, so I can't get into the system to follow further instructions. It just keeps showing the logo screen with a little 'eggtimer', then a grey screen with the 'No Signal' message.
It seems maybe the monitor and pc just aren't communicating with each other. Thanks
