i'm getting the same error on a relatively new pc rig and windows 10 install (3 months old).

Here is the BlueScreenView error log:http://pastebin.com/E96eSJA4 (includes graphics specs at bottom of log) It happens whenever I get online to play Arma 3 (about 40 minutes in), haven't seen it happen in single player or any other game.

Zipped up: file here

  • C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP file
  • C:\Windows\Minidump
  • C:\Windows\LiveKernelReports
  • dxdiag.txt, drivers.txt
I've done memtest, Intelburn test, run routine scans from other troubleshooting threads, updated drivers (most were already up to date) but have found no solution. At a loss here. I'm going to try to reseat the ram, hdd, etc. but that is just a shot in the dark.

I had a friend look at the logs and he told me this:

Looks like your crash is being caused by BattleEye's anti-cheat driver:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\BattlEye\BEDaisy.sys - Nov 4, 2016

It operates in kernel-mode and was the only 3rd party driver involved in the execution stack for the dump you sent me.

This would explain why your crashing only happens in that particular game which uses this anti-cheat software. There isn't much to be done about it besides providing the BattleEye devs your crash dumps, letting them know your Windows 10 build number, and explaining the problem.

You could stand to update these two drivers, just in case it might help:

You also have some older drivers being used by your Logitech and Razor peripherals, but they usually don't cause any stability problems. They can be updated via the Logitech Gaming and Razor Synapse software.

I've submitted a ticket to the developers of BattleEye anti-cheat software but assuming this is the cause of my crashes (which, imo, seems highly likely) is there something I can do in the interim? Does it really come down to software conflicting with my windows build? One would think there would be more reports and complaints to the developers of this software if so... There is gotta be something more to it that I could do on my end. I've also updated the drivers that were recommended to me (still crashes).

I still plan on following malnutrition's suggestions and look forward to any additional advice.

I still plan on following malnutrition's suggestions and look forward to any additional advice.

I would like that, I have a certain way that I go about things. I understand that you have most of the info needed, I am just set in my ways and they work... You get me the logs etc how I asked for them then I will happily go over them for you.

Example of how I work on BSOD here.

Thanks for more logs. :) I wasn't able to analyze your logs last night but I will tonight. Thank you for your patience :)

The pc rig is all 3-5 months old and used exclusively for gaming. All hardware in the system was configured at the same time. Purchased all the items from a. computer shop brand new and had a friend configure the pc as they worked at the shop and had the experience of putting it together. Arma III was purchased 11/25. Suppose its possible that conflicts in hardware existed prior to the crashes introduced by Arma. Wild guess: Arma demands full/excessive capacity of x1 device which causes x2 device to short/give/etc. highlighting a fault in configuration, perhaps.

I do not recall the BSODs occurring outside of playing Arma III online (can play an estimated 40 minutes before crashing). So no, I do not experience these BSODs when not playing Arma III.

Is that while idle? If so, that's a little too hot for idle temps. It should be much cooler than that. R9 cards always run hot, therefore they require very good cooling fans in the case.

well it was straight after a crash (the one I uploaded with the fan temp). I figured "let me run that program jmarket was talking about" . Pc crash, resets, log in and run speed fan. Not sure if that really counts as "idle" in that case or if they would still be hot from gaming.

Windows tells me drivers are up to date but I understand it isn't always accurate and would be advised to check the manufacturers website. As suggested by a friend (see post #4), I updated the drivers that I was linked to. To the best of my abilities, essential drivers such as R9 appear to be the latest. For peripherals like mouse and keyboard, I was informed they are out of date by my friend but when I went to update from manufacturers website, update program said they were indeed up to date.

Said friend from post #4 also examined my full mini dump folder (provided here as well) and followed up with this:

I tested 5 of the new crash dumps you sent me. 2 had the Battleye driver in the execution stack, the others didn't.

However, it is a general memory corruption style of crash, which means a driver is writing to kernel-mode memory outside of its allocated space. This means a driver doesn't necessarily need to be in the execution stack of the thread which throws a bug check (and yes, that does open the door to other drivers acting outside of the stacks which the Battleye driver shows up in). The Battleye driver is still the only 3rd party driver to show up in any of the stacks (3 of 6 now), so it still has my suspicions.

I'm not familiar with how you join Arma games, but since this crash only happens while playing the game, I'd recommend you try joining a server which doesn't make sure of the anti-cheat software, or doing single player or the like.

If you can last longer than the typical 30-60 minutes before crashes happen while playing the game like this (where you know the anti-cheat software isn't running), then I'd say that is pretty definitive evidence of what the cause is.

Of course, BattleEye is absolutely necessary to play online in order to eliminate hacking/cheating so if this were the source of the crashes, it would indicate a crucial flaw that one would think many others would be complaining about (as you pointed out, though it isn't apparent that battle eye was the cause for that particular thread).

while playing the game, I minimized the game screen to save the user profile as a recent crash corrupted/deleted the game save progress so I got into the habit of saving this folder (located in ~/My Documents/Arma III - Other Profiles) and my pc BSOD as soon as I hit the button to save a copy. It was an "IRQL" BSOD. The game was still running but it was minimized.

Here is a zipped copy of my minidumps folder. This specific BSOD should be one of the most recent dumps (sorted by date).

Sorry about the delay @moman . Busy week :)

Again it's caused by a IRQL error. Let's narrow down a few things:

1.) Does it only happen when playing Arma III?
2.) Does it happen when doing other tasks, such as playing other games, browsing the web, etc?
3.) Have you experienced any previous BSODs before buying Arma III?
4.) Are you running an antivirus when playing Arma 3?

After answering these questions in the next reply, please run Driver Verifier by following this guide and posting the results. https://msdn.microsoft.com/windows/hardware/drivers/devtest/driver-verifier
